Types of respiratory conditions
A respiratory nurse is a nurse who specialises in caring for people with breathing and lung problems, including smokers.
Our respiratory nurse can help you better understand your condition and treatment, keep an eye on your activities and work with you to plan for a healthier life.
The respiratory nurse can also talk to community groups, workplaces and schools about asthma management, smoking, and other breathing issues.
A respiratory nurse can assist with:
- managing your asthma
- living well with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- how to best manage if you have been diagnosed with emphysema
- managing asbestos-related diseases
- gaining more benefit from using home oxygen therapy
- stopping smoking.
